It kind of reminds me that scene from "Don't look up" where the scientist, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, is urging everyone to WAKE UP!
Just like the “giant comet” in that movie, the threat of the nanotech/ synthetic biology has without a shadow of doubt the potential to be an extinction level event for the human race as we know it.
In order to get to this point in time, I think a lot of small mis-steps were taken over the course of decades. Corruption, greed and ego are always the main culprits.
From pharma reps coercing GPs to write certain prescriptions for rewards, politicians having financial interests in companies, judges being specially selected to guarantee a preferred outcome, nepotism running rife through governing bodies, the media perpetuating a guided narrative and unbelievably corrupt global organisations accepting "donations" from certain eugenic beneficiaries, the rot set in long ago.
Until procedures are implemented that anyone in a position of power or judgment cannot benefit in any way from decisions they make, nothing will change. The likelihood of that happening in Australia, let alone the world, is nil.
